Founded on July 4, 1813, The City of Covington is celebrating its bicentennial this summer. The small town has a rich history dating back to the days of Andrew Jackson setting up camp on the banks of the Bogue Falaya River. To help commemorate this special occasion, WLAE-TV (PBS) has produced the documentary film, The Story of Covington: A 200 Year Journey.

From H.J. Smith’s Sons Hardware Store on Columbia Street to Lee Harvey Oswald’s school days at Schoen Middle School, the city of Covington has a past full of stories that serve as a living history to this town that was once linked by flowing rivers and Lake Pontchartrain.
